1. Initial Consultation:

Every patient who will be seen for the first time is required to have an initial consultation. The purpose of the initial interview is gathering information about current symptoms, history of the symptoms, psychosocial factors, and goals for treatment. From the information gathered in the initial interview, a diagnosis will be created and a treatment plan will be elaborated in conjunction with the patient.

2. Psychotherapy/Neurofeedback/Biofeedback Training:

The clinician will discuss possible treatment plans to alleviate current patient’s symptoms. The patient may choose to involve just in psychotherapy or he/she may choose to do biofeedback, neurofeedback in conjunction with psychotherapy.

3. EEG Acquisition:

For patients who are interested in Neurofeedback therapy, a recording of the brain electric activity is required. The data acquisition is performed in the clinic, it takes from 60 to 90 minutes to do the data acquisition. The process requires that the patient wears an electric cap to record brain activity for no more than 30 minutes. An electro electroencephalography (EEG) recording will be useful to identify what areas of the brain may be more efficient to train to decrease present symptoms.

4. Brain Map/Qualitative Electroencephalogram:

After acquiring information on the brain activity, the data will be analyzed using a database which will compared the brain activity of the patient with the norm. The results of this comparison and analysis will be useful for the formulation of the patient’s neurofeedback training.
